Buran Ghati Trek

Buran Ghati, a stunning mountain pass connecting the charming Pabbar Valley in Shimla to the breathtaking Sangla Valley in Kinnaur, is a hidden gem in the Himachal Pradesh region of India. We follow the below itinerary to make you experience the best of your time!

Itineraries

Day 1

Shimla to Jaglik Village

-Drive from Shimla to Janglik village (starting point of the trek)
-Duration of drive: 8-9 hours
-Pass through scenic towns and villages like Narkanda and Rohru
-Overnight stay in Janglik village

Day 2

Janglik to Daraya Thach

-Begin the trek with a gradual ascent through dense oak and rhododendron forests
-The trail opens up into vast meadows filled with alpine flowers
-Trek for a few hours to reach Dayara Thach
-Camp overnight at Dayara Thach

Day 3

Dayara to Litham

-Trek from Dayara Thach to Litham Thach
-The trail involves a steep ascent through a narrow gorge
-Followed by a descent to the riverbed
-Cross the river to reach Litham
-Camp overnight at Litham Thach

Day 4

Litham to Chandernahan Lake day excursion

-Trek through beautiful meadows, streams, and boulder-strewn paths
-Chandernahan Lake (4260m) is a high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks
-This lake is considered sacred by locals
-There are a total of 5 small lakes
-Trek back to Litham for camping

Day 5

Litham to Nalabansh via Buran Ghati Pass

-The trail involves a steep ascent to Buran Ghati Pass
-Pass is at an altitude of around 4,550 meters (14,928 feet) above sea level
-Pass offers stunning views of surrounding peaks and glaciers
-Descend to Nalabansh for an overnight camp stay.

Day 6

Nalabansh to Munirang

-The trail involves a descent through boulder-strewn paths and beautiful meadows
-Trek to a lovely campsite near the river
-Camp overnight at the campsite

Day 7

River Camp to Barua Village to Shimla

-Walk through beautiful villages and apple orchards. Now you are in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
-Reach the village of Barua, where the trek ends (Sangla Valley)
-Jeep ride to Shimla and your Buran Ghati trek ends.

*Buffer Day- It is important to have an extra day as any bad weather conditions or landslides may delay your journey. In case another day is utilized, you need to pay ₹ 2500 for buffer day expenses.
*Stay at Shimla and Volvo buses from Delhi/Chandigarh can be arranged at an additional cost.

Other Guidance

  • Climbers are reminded that there is a 15 kg limit on personal luggage for all climbs.
  • Cameras, whether video or film, needed to be protected against the severe cold either in a warm pouch or the interior pockets of your clothing. Do not keep your camera in your backpack at higher elevations.
  • We do not provide donkeys or porters to carry luggage.
  • No insurance is provided during the trek.
  • When between camps, please carry your daily personal rubbish to the next camp.
  • Remember – “Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints”. So, keep the mountains clean and green.
  • Aspirins and Paracetamols are highly recommended for headaches and because they also thin the blood which will help improve circulation & oxygen delivery to the body.  Strong painkillers are not recommended as they can suppress respiration.
  • Personal expenses of any kind will not be entertained.

  •  A good sturdy pair of shoes and a backpack with plastic or waterproof lining.
  • Comfortable, lightweight clothing.
  • Sunglasses or goggles.
  • A woolen hat for warmth.
  • Pocket knife.
  • Torch.
  • Lunch Box with Spoon.

  • Scarf or bandana.
  • Lip balm.

  • Spare contact lenses or glasses.

  • Towel especially lightweight quick-dry type.
  • Track pants with more pockets. Carry around 2 pants. Avoid jeans.

  • A raincoat since the weather can be unpredictable sometimes. (Optional)
  • Identification proof like Passport, Driving license, Aadhar card etc.
  • 1 Passport size photograph.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellation of booking of tour 31 days or more before the date of Departure will result in a 20% deduction in the cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 21-30 days before the date of Departure will result in a 40% deduction of the cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 11-20 days before the date of Departure will result in a 60% deduction of the cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 6-10 days before the date of Departure will result in an 80% deduction of the cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 1-5 days before the date of Departure will result in a 100% deduction of the cost of the tour.
