Thachi Valley Trek
An Overview
Thachi Valley is one of the most remote and beautiful destinations of Himachal Pradesh. Located amidst thick forests of deodar, pine and tosh trees the area displays unspoiled beauty of nature. It is linked by a road that goes via Aut and Bali Chowki. This place is a paradise for trekkers with easy to medium treks in the region to get a wide-angle view of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar Ranges. A beautiful, untouched and unexplored valley, this is the ideal location for a holiday amidst the lap of nature.
Trek A Tribe is proud to open new trek in Thachi Valley known to very few. This trek starts from village Shalwad located at an altitude of 2,550 meters, 1.5 hours hike from the Thachi road. Shalwad village is a happy place with a population of around 100 people. The primary source of income for the villagers here is farming, growing peas, onion, cabbage and other vegetables. Fruits like apple and plum are also grown here. There is also a primary school in the village.
This peaceful village is located at a beautiful location with an amazing view of the Manali region and peaks. The village is also home to a beautiful wooden Lord Ganesh Temple.
Trek Analysis
At the top of the mountain from Shalwad resides a Lord Vishnu Temple which is another 5 km trek from the village. The trek to the temple top to an altitude of 3,000 meters passes through beautiful landscapes. Trees found in this region include Deodar, Pine, Tosh, Oak, Rei, Maru, Rakhal and Khashu. Another unique herb found in the region which is known as Madrosh. Madrosh leaves are used to make tea which has many benefits including boosting immunity, curing cold, headaches, etc. It tastes a thousand times better than green tea.
Lord Vishnu Temple is also known for an annual fair held in the month of October, where thousands of devotees gather together for a week and worship the local Devta known by the name of Lord Matlora.
The best thing about this trek is perhaps the Himalayan views you are rewarded with from the top of the ridge. The stunning vistas offer views of the Parvati Valley, Tirthan Valley, Shikari Devi, Kamru Nag, Prashar forests, Dhauladhar range, Bhunter airport, Beas river, Thachi village, Hanuman Tibba, and other prominent peaks. This mesmerizing view is something you cannot keep your eyes away from!
Another destination we will cover in Thachi Valley is Speini Dhar, which is 12 km drive away from the Thachi village. Speini Dhar at 2,900 meters is a pass connecting Thachi valley and Janjheli valley. It offers an amazing view of the Mandi district and Tirthan Valley. We also visit Sumenu Nag Devta Temple and Jogi Pathar near the pass.
This place will make you fall hopelessly and irretrievably in love with Himachal and its beauty! If solitude, sky-gazing, wilderness, a night out under the stars and a warm campfire below is what you seek, this trip is undoubtedly ideal for you.
