An Overview

The trek to Kinner Kailash Peak at a height of 4,650 m is a spiritually enriching trek in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Reckong Peo is the nearest town from the base camp and the trek length is 17 km one-way. Kinner Kailash trekking offers breathtaking views of Kinnaur mountains anf if you are an ardent trekker, adventure freak, and have deep faith towards Lord Shiva, then this trek is definitely the best bet for you. Ther best time for theKinner Kailash trek is in the month of Mid June till September.

Apart from this, the trek will take you to the heart of one of the most mythical abodes of Lord Shiva, with a 79 feet vertical rock located at a height of 4,650m (15,255ft) in the Kinner Kailash mountain range. This vertical rock changes its colours many times a day. In addition to this, 90% of the trek is steep and will surely test your physical and mental endurance.

Trek Analysis:

The trek will commence from a village named Tangling, located on the left bank of Satluj river. After the village trail, the trek will be a steep incline ascend towards Ganesh Park or Kailash Darshan Park, which was earlier known as Aashiqui Bagh as it was the place for the meeting of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati according to the ancient Hindu mythology. After Ganesh Park, we cross the glacier to reach the Goofa point. Further, we ascend alongside the most magnificent flowers called Brahmakamal which will take us to the pond known as the Parvati Kund, located just beneath the Kinner Kailash Shivlingam. Additionally, the water of this holy pond have some healing properties.

After Parvati Kund, an hour trek over the small and large boulders will be taking you to the top in front of the mighty Shivlingam. After reaching this point, all the physical strains and mental tiredness will vanish as soon you witness this beautiful 79 ft vertical Shivlingam. Above all, one can witness the stupendous Mt. Kinner Kailash {6,050m (19, 849 ft)} from this point.

Many times if you are lucky enough you can witness the yellow beak alpine bird known as Alpine Chough hovering around the Shivlingam. Alpine Chough is a bird in Crow family which nests their eggs at a point higher than any other bird in the world. On an esepcially sunny bright day, you can also have a spectacular view of Reckong Peo and Kalpa village. Further, witness the mighty peaks of Kinnaur and adjacent Spiti areas including highest peaks of Himachal including Reo Purgyil and Leo Purgyil.
